ALLMSES Special Education Services

Special Education Services are available to students who have been evaluated and recommended for services. All services are provided in accordance to the students' Individualized Educational Plan (IEP).  

 

Alain L. Locke Magnet School for Environmental Stewardship offers:

 

  • Self-Contained Classes that cater to students whose classifications require a small group setting with a maximum number of 12 students in the class.

  • Collaborative Team Teaching Classes which are comprised of both General and Special Education teachers who personalize and differentiate instruction to engage all students through small group work, peer assistance and collaboration, while developing student’s strengths and building self esteem in a nurturing environment.

  • SETSS / Resource Room for students with IEPs placed in General Education classes, who receive push-in or pull-out instructional support in all subject areas based on their individualized goals.

  • Speech/Language Therapy to improve student’s ability to understand and use language successfully; including the pronunciation and awareness of sounds, syllables and word patterns designed to meet each child’s specific needs.

  • Occupational and Physical Therapy Services for students who need to strengthen parts of their bodies in order to perform daily functions.

  • Counseling Services for all students as mandated and recommended, provided both individually and in small groups.

  • English as a Second Language (ESL) to help ensure that children who are English Language Learners (ELL), including immigrant children and youth, attain English proficiency, develop high levels of academic attainment in English, and meet the same challenging State academic content and student academic achievement standards as all children are expected to meet.
